About

Visiting Friends is about how to travel in Africa and the developing world without losing your life, your wallet, or your sanity.  The people and cultures of Africa are wonderful when you experience them as friends and neighbors rather than as aid recipients or safari tourist attractions.

We share about how to see the parts of Africa which aren’t Rising, but also aren’t in the news.  Come enjoy the beauty of the green tea fields of East Africa seen from a long-haul bus winding up the mountain, or eat bush chicken and rice in a hut on the edge of the Sahara.  Meet new friends and experience a worldview which is starkly different from Walmart America.

Your guide, Stephen Fierbaugh, has a MA in Intercultural Studies and has traveled extensively in Africa.
